By definition saga is a long, involved story, account, or series of incidents. This is the work we are doing here: telling the long story of our times, the drugs, the cartels, the migrants, our present, past and future politicians and how their decisions impact our world in the streets.

saga is your guide to news, context and analysis on true crime, narcos and immigration around the globe.

We don’t trust media outlets anymore and it is not hard to see why. Mainstream media is now working as an echo chamber for hidden agendas, forcing us readers to read something we don’t really want to.

They miss to give us context on every news, especially when it comes to crime, narcos and immigration. We get feed “the truth" as if it was untouched, unbiased, un-opinionated. The reality is that “the truth” they give us has been chewed, swallowed and vomited by a small group of executives and business owners.

saga is here for the breaking news, as we have strong, reliable and first hand sources; saga is here for the context, as we have more than 16 years writing, thinking, reporting on the same issues; finally saga is here for the analysis, because we believe in handing out our view for the future.

Let us tell you a long, involved story about our modern world. Welcome to saga.

Luis Chaparro

Luis Chaparro is a Mexican/American journalist with over 15 years of experience on criminal organizations, narcos and immigration. He was one of the first journalists in the world to go inside the house of the son of infamous drug lord Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán after his dramatic arrest in Sinaloa. He got access to a Fentanyl laboratory in Sinaloa as the deadly opioid was hitting the streets of U.S. in 2019. Chaparro also uncovered a criminal extortion ring against migrants managed by Mexican government officials in Ciudad Juárez. He was the only journalist to have an interview with major Sinaloa Cartel drug leader Dámaso López Serrano ‘El Mini-Lic’ and broke the news about a powerful opioid 10x stronger than Fentanyl two years before it made the news. He has been featured on the Shawn Ryan Show, the Danny Jones podcast and The Connect with Johnny Mitchel.
